Default 49 Custom wheels

I want to buy 15" wheels from a salvage yard to mount radial tires for my 49 shoebox. Anyone know what will fix with correct back spacing ?

I believe the original wheels were 15X5.

The back spacing on my stock 15" wheel is 3.5".

This original brochure for the 49 Ford lists the standard wheels as 15" fitted with low pressure 6.70 x 15 Tyres.

It is interesting to note that the Australian 1949 Fords came with 16" wheels, fitted with 6.00 x 16" 4 Ply Tyres.

USA-built '49 fords came with 16" wheels and 6.00 x 16" tires on the base model. I believe the wheels are 4" wide. The Deluxe model came with 15" wheels and 6.50 or 6.70 x 15" tires.......Bob L

Most any 4.5 " bolt circle will work. Some Mopar 15" from that period will work and are 5" wide. They have clips and take the small hubcap.

I was advised to buy new wheels from Summit or Wheel Vintique due to salvage wheels being warped, out of round etc. Just my .02 cents.
