Oringinal style points alignment?
I bought a new distributor from one of the vendors and it comes with a new upper plate , lower plate, and points. When I started to install it I found I could not get the point contacts to fully align with each other. About 1/4 of the point contact area is off the other contact surface.
Is this normal or is this upper plate defective? |

Re: Oringinal style points alignment?
You just need to align them. Remove the upper plate and you will find 2 screws holding the fixed block to the plate. Loosen the screws slightly and you will find it has enough wiggle room to align the point perfectly. Make sure to tighten the screws when finished.

Re: Oringinal style points alignment?
Just as PS says, but, I've found it necessary to take a file to one of the holes to get them to align.
Also while your at this, check the primary lead. I had one that would go open at times and just re-soldered the connectors. |
