Latch Pillar Replacement/Interchange
A friend dropped off a 28-29 coupe body at my house that the left latch pillar is really bent and bad but fixable damage to the quarter panel as well. Has anyone replaced the door latch pillar on a 28-29 coupe with one from a 28-29 tudor? On initial comparison they look the same other than the quarter panel brackets and afew holes, so I think it is doable. I am not sure about the rivit flanges and gussets where they attach to the subrails. The lower part of each pillar is rusted off on both sides so I might replace both. I would like to hear from someone who has done this to make sure they are as interchangable as they look. Thanks Rod

Re: Latch Pillar Replacement/Interchange
Guessing everyone started with a less compromised body for their 28-29 coupes. Going to proceed with the repair with the assumption that other than the states differences they are the same. I sure hope I am right. If not I can write off the latch posts as a learing experience. If it works out he wants a top for a business coupe, so I will be looking for those parts for him also. Rod

Re: Latch Pillar Replacement/Interchange
Looks like they interchange with some work. Have to remove the window channel and brackets for the quarter panel and window regulator panel. Then drill and dimple 2 holes for the coupe quarter panel bracket screws. I managed to locate another coupe body that someone already salvaged the left quarter panel and has much better subrails. However somewhere in the past they cut the latch posts off even with the top of the quarter panel to make a pseudo-roadster. Knowing the latch post interchange works makes me feel better about this project. Rod
