Default S/W sedan dome light wiring

I have the dome light socket, the door switch but do not know when the light operates or where it gets its voltage from. Does the switch ground the circuit and does the ignition or lights need to be on?

I have the Judging Standards but can not locate the description or wiring diagram. Has someone been here that can throw an idea my way? Thanks, Art

The switch provides power to the light. The light needs a ground. Take the power off of the terminal box, like you would for an electric wiper. Ignition or lights do not need to be on.
