Default 5 Speed Tranny-Brazil?

Did anyone see the Facebook Group-Model A Restorers Club? Anidal Rodrigues had an article of numerous photos of 5 Speed Transmissions made in Brazil at that site.

Yes, I also saw it, very interesting. If it is the real deal would love to have one. I am not wild about the other overdrive option as the Mitchell with a second shifter.

Will that article be in the magazine? Is 1st gear a creeper gear?

I'm not on Facebook so I haven't seen the article. Tell me more about this gearbox.

Thanks Al but he has made the usual mistake. I have seen it before - the maker has forgotten that there are many RHD cars. It would have been so simple to repeat those bosses in the bell housing on the other side for RHD pedals, but no.
About as useful as flyscreens on a submarine to us!

I had assumed it was made back in the Model A era.

You have to cut a BIG chunk out of your crossmember to use this transmission.

Chris and Brent,
When I look at the pictures, it looks like the shifter is far enough forward that you would not need to cut the crossmember. This is not the T5 transmission from a Chevy. I wonder about the driveshaft length but I think you need to take a second look.
Does anyone know how to make a connection to someone selling these? I do not have Fakebook.

It would be interesting to lengthen the frame at the transmission and make a stretched car. The cross member would not have to be removed. But there would be a lot of other work involved. Think how happy the wife would be in the roomy back seat.

Length of that transmission is definitely longer. Kinda makes you wonder about Brake Cross-shaft too as that O/D section of the transmission is where the cross-shaft would normally be located under the Torque Tube. If that location changes, imagine what happens to brake rods.

I'm not on FB by choice or any other social media.

But that down side is I'm missing up to date stuff plus lots of neat pictures and info.

The club magazines ain't cuttin' it no way they can compete.

The chart shows a length of 509mm, A quick check of my A I estimate the length is about the same as the original. My guess is that no cutting necessary.

I seen this on Facebook. If the translation is correct torque tube needs to be shortened 170mm or almost 7". I'll see if I can post some pics.

If you want to do facebook, create a bogus name, bogus birth date, an email you use for junk mail etc. Don't give them anything meaningful.

You are after facebook "groups". Ah, yes, add a picture of some sort to your profile as you won't be accepted into some groups without it.

Some groups to join:

The Burtz Ford Model A Engine
Model A Modified
MAFCA - Model A Ford of America
Ford Model A Fast Friends (modified & trimmed)
.......their are about 20 photos of this trans conversion
Ford A 1928-1931 amateur et possesseur francais !
Ford Model A vehicles and parts
Speedsters Downunder
Aussie A Models
The Rattletrap
CARTOONS AND JOKES

This is a quote from the builder from one of the Facebook groups.
"Many people from the most varied countries and languages contacted me to know the final result of the adaptation. so I made an installation just with the aim of illustrating the work. it is necessary to remove a piece smaller than a cigarette pack in the middle crossbeam .it is necessary to cut the cardan and its torque tube in 175 millimeters (these cars may have suffered alterations and accidents over the years it is prudent to make a conference at the time of installation) . I can put the shifter in place and make the cuts in two full days of work. Doubts send me a private message because I haven't been able to respond to the groups. I am a self-employed artisan in Brazil. Brazilian postal code CEP 14402130 package mediated for dispatch in legalized wooden box 50x50x70 centimeters weight 30 kilograms. Value at the place of manufacture is 8 thousand reais (+- 1550 USD) plus shipping. recommended carrier DHL international logistics
.I don't have a ready-made product, just made to order. automatically translated from portuguese by google."

I'm happy to forward some photos if someone is prepared to post them for all to see.
