Default 36 LB pistons and heads

I have a 1936 LB I'm getting ready to rebuild and would appreciate some suggestions and help. The motor came with flat top pistons but had replacement cast iron dome heads. I have original aluminum heads for flat top pistons in my stash.

Regarding pistons, are all the 3-1/16" pistons interchangeable for all years?

Any opinions on what combo is better, flat top pistons w/aluminum heads or dome top with either cast or aluminum heads?

Motor will be stock street.

Thanks,

Wayne

Dunno if one combo is any better than the other, but use correct style heads for your chosen pistons. Ford went to domed pistons allegedly because of 'improved quench', and carried on using them for the rest of flathead production...although I run flat-tops very successfully in my engine

Either combination will work fine on the street. Flat top is better for racing.

They used steel and aluminum pistons but not mixed . Steel are actually lighter than aluminum. Steel takes different rings .
