Default upper distributor plate

When was the cast upper distributor plate changed to the stamped plate? Is there any value in saving the old cast plates?

The best thing is that the points block is part of the plate and can't get cocked or move . I sold a couple of used forged upper plates a few years ago . I probably should have kept them

Period restorers (i.e. Fine Point) may want the forged style. As competition at that level is rare and plates are relatively plentiful - your pricing will follow market demand.

I.e. probably not worth much beyond new repop - which follow pretty closely originals - to include the stamped "SP" and other original details.

Per the "Restoration Guidelines", page 2-11, 2011 revisions: "The first distributor upper plate was forged, cadmium plated, and had a wide flat arm and riveted ball. After January 1928, the forged plate had a one piece arm with the integral ball end bent at a 45 degree angle. This plate was either cadmium or copper plated depending on supplier. The plate was changed to a cadmium plated steel stamping in late 1928."
