Default Holley 94 rebuild

Does anyone know of people that can rebuild a Holley 94 if I ship it to them? I did it once and now all the gaskets are weeping fuel and I am having backfiring. Bunch of people have suggested that maybe I am getting extra unmonitored fuel into the carb causing a backfire. So I’d like someone that is good with these carbs to rebuild it for me. Thanks!

This guy:
Charlie Schwendler

He was CharlieNY here on the Barn with an excellent rep for carb rebuilding along with other services. He rebuilt the 94 for my 8ba and ran like a top right out of the USPS box.

He is no longer on the Barn for issues that won't be discussed but it had nothing to do with his workmanship.

The original Carb for a 34 is a Stromberg Model 40 not the Holley 94.

If the OP's carb is a Stromberg not a Holley then Uncle Max is the guy:

Check your fuel pressure. If you have an electric pump, you may have to use a fuel pressure reducer. The model 94 is meant for 2.5 psi, mine had 8 psi before I "cranked her down". Runs great now. The 94's really are a simple rebuild, Charlie Price has a 5 video series on how to put them back together. His company, Vintage Speed, has a kit for every carburetor for Flatty's. Check out his video before you send it somewhere and also what kit he recommends, there are several that will work, of course, some are more expensive than others. It is good info.

I agree- 97's and 94's are pretty easy to rebuid. The videos are pretty clear and helpful. He has a few little tricks from many years of mesding with them.

I am a retired mechanic of 45 years experience and I am starting to rebuild 94 and 97 carbs. The process includes soda blasting and ultra sonic cleaning. I will not use most of the carb kits, because they are not any good. Contact me if interested.

I have dealt with Charlie before and he was great. I am in the process of rebuilding 3 97's for my truck and I sent him an email asking for advice in Dec. and he never answered. Called his shop a week ago and phone goes to recording. Haven't heard a thing. His video's are great and I won't buy power valves from anyone else but something seems to have changed. Go to the H.A.M.B. and you see way more negative reviews than positive. IMHO.

You sure you got the right "Charlie"? There are two in the carburetor business, one of whom is head and shoulders above the other.
