Lookinf for repro Ford Script (no oval) coil - doesn't have to be working. Anyone have one for sale? Been to the Swap Meet and not seeing one there. Would also be interested in original (no script), non-working coil/bracket.Thanks!!

I am asking this question because I don't know the answer. Is the coil in Post #4 the one that was installed on the cars when they were built or is it an aftermarket coil?

Ford used a number of different coils during production. The early cars had script but that didn't last. The originals generally had a permanently attached bracket. Some had angled terminals and some were straight. The tube type terminal nuts were common.
I'm still using an old reproduction coil and it still works. I think I purchased in back in the late 1980s. |

Yes but not sure if good! Can you test one off the vehicle?

I do it on the bench using a spare distributor. Tom Wesenberg once posted a schematic for a tester, I searched but couldn't find it. Found it:

If somebody's willing to pay shipping, I'm always happy to test coils at no charge. I have an MT-640 tester. Can check polarity, strength, and performance when heated.
