Default Tail light bracket & Spare tire bracket

Is there any kind of gasket or cushion between the brackets and the car. After doing a beautiful paint job it just doesn’t seem right to bolt the brackets to the body/fender without a cushion between. Since I don’t see them advertised I assume the answer is no but it’s better to ask. Thanks!

The pads above are aftermarket items and not originally used. I don't think they look right, but to each his own. What I do to protect the paint is use some electrical friction tape and contact cement to glue the tape to the bottom of the taillight bracket and spare tire bracket. friction tape will not adhere well to anything but itself, so you need glue. You really can't tell the tape is applied once the brackets are installed, but it protects the paint. However, you need to make sure there is electrical contact with the bolts on the taillight. I use star washers to insure electrical contact.

Doesn't the pad that Bratton's has (and Bruce provided a link to) do the same as your friction tape? You can not see it when the bracket is bolted on. I use the rubber pads on my door handles also.

Personally I prefer the pad with the bead around it. As stated, neither pad is original.

I use the rubber pads with the bead on my door handles also to protect the paint.

Ruth,
I am a stickler for originality. I know you can see the rubber pads, as they are thicker than friction tape, by a lot. Like I said, to each his own!
