Default Kiwi Barners

Hi Guys, I'm heading from Whangaparaoa to Masterton on Wednesday in my 37 pickup, any barners on the way to pop in and have a chat? I'm going to Brians to fit the 284 and then drive back.I may go north via Napier or even Gisborne, I will play it by ear a bit, as it depends on time. I'm looking forword to the trip though the weather is not looking good.Cheers Tony.

Tony, The weather is fine in Masterton, where the sun always shines unless its raining. Have a good trip buddy, I'm sure your pickup will love the 284.

Wow that 284 will give the old 37 some torque . We have a 276 in our 37 coupe and it runs great. Just take it easy on the old 3 speed box and banjo rear.

Brian [my4dv8], the 37 pickup of kiwitony's runs a 5 speed outta a Toymota, which will optimise the torque of the 284. I've tried various renditions of this 284 in my stock drivetrained 35 sedan, and have found it to be considerably slower than the 21 stud! Hence, I sold it to my mate, who's vehicle it should work well in.
Thing is; I always dreamed of building a big[ish] motor, but the reality is that a highly modified 221 in front of stock three speed will always be faster and more exciting to drive. I am disillusioned with the offerings of Ford post war. Inferior by far!
