Default New Zealand Beachop

Hi Guys, I thought you might be interested in a big car weekend we have once a year at Whangamata.1500 oficial cars entered, the same again or more unoficial like me. A 250 mile round trip for me, the 37pu never missed a beat,17 mpg average, 20 mpg on the 95 mile motorway stretch home. If any of you are planning a trip to NZ this is well worth a look.I talked to a couple of yanks I saw there and they were most impressed, they said it's as good as anything state side. Here's some pictures {hopfully] I only took fords or flatheads though there were many fine cars and trucks of all makes.Cheers Tony.

I was there too, but not in my flattie. Beach Hop is a celebration of 50s and 60s culture and involves music (20+ bands) and fashion as well as cars. A SBC powered A coupe was given away to one lucky recipient from the South Island. The crowd estimate was 90-100 thousand.
I've played there with my band at three previous Hops and decided not to this year. Nice to be able to concentrate on checking the 3000 cars there instead of working!

Hi Trevo,
How did the ratio change affect the driving experience?
