Got the 24 coupe running
After sitting in a garage since around 1962, I got my 24 coupe running.
I didn't do a lot to prep: changed the oil, removed the gas tank and carb and cleaned them, cleaned electrical contacts and added new battery cables. I put some AT fluid/acetone mix in the cylinders and gapped the plugs. The first attempt, it would fire, but that was about it. Second attempt, we changed the carb and after a bit, we got it running! The plugs and wires are ancient and I had no idea how the coils were, but we succeeded! It sounds pretty good. I ordered new plugs and wires, fan belt and hoses. I am hoping it wasn't a matter of everything being bad, but in symbiosis. Swapping out the old for the new may upset the equilibrium! There is a whole lot more to do, but I feel that I have passed a milestone!
