Default 46 Coupe Rear Seat Removal

How do you release the seat portion of the back seat? I tried pushing down and back to unhook the seat but no go. Not pushing hard enough? Are there bolts or screws I didn't find?

You are probably not pushing hard enough. No bolts or screws to my knowledge except those that hold the backrest at the bottom

Have a 46 Mercury Coupe and expect this would be the same?
Intend to remove rear seat also. Back rest out first followed by seat cushion next? both sections are just clipped in place?
Sorry not trying to hyjack.

The Merc seat should come out the same way. Bottom first and then the backrest. The back rest should have some metal tabs on the bottom that are bolted in place to the floor pan.

Appreciate clarifiation on that. Bottom first to access lower tabs for back!

Yes - bottom first. Pull up the front of the bottom and slide out. Below the back cushion you will see the tabs with a bolt. Undo the bolts and pull up. That is the way my convertible is.

Thanks for the responses. Push back then up is what I suspected, but I guess the -10C weather is causing the seat padding to be too stiff to compress and not allowing the seat move back to unhook.

Unscrew/bolt the bottom of the back of the rear seat and then push up as there are two tabs that hold it in place.
