Old Henry, Did you figure out your rough running at altitude problem with the 47?

I've ordered a new coil resistor to replace that as some testing has indicated that may be the problem. We'll see. The problem no longer seems to be altitude related or even heat related. It's just one of those weird random things.

It is hard to believe that raising the hood a crack would have anything to do with a coil resister problem. I would at least try removing the air cleaner to see if the air flow may have some effect especially since you are not running an original type carb. I tried a modern type air cleaner element on my Stromberg 97 and it caused it to run too rich. Just a suggestion.

If replacing the coil resistor doesn't work I'll try removing the air cleaner next time the problem hits. It is the original oil bath air cleaner that I just cleaned so unlikely the problem but easy to take off next time and see if it helps.

Not quite as "fall" but there are a few leaves on the ground.

The leaves here aren't as colorful as past falls, but here is a picture that I took yesterday. Pat
