I would save the interior for someone, and the rear axle, the engine and trans, and the front brakes.

Small blocks used the C4. The 289 should be the 6 bolt type pattern that came out in 1966. Early small blocks were 5-bolt pattern. I have no idea if any Fairlane drive line parts will fit a Mustang. The rear axles might be related but Fairlanes were wider after 1965. Both would likely be the 5-bolt axle 8-inch types unless it had a larger motor or a small 6-cylinder. The wagons, Rancheros, and larger engine cars generally received the 9-inch rear axle after 1965.

I have not worked on a lot of Fairlane's but the engine and trans will bolt in to the Mustang using the Mustang frame mounts, if your Mustang is a V8 car. Will use the trans crossmember from the Mustang either 6 or 8. The rear end will bolt in but will be to wide for the Mustang. The spindles and brakes will work on the Mustang, but the A arms are different. If the Fairlane is column shifted the arm in the trans will need to be changed to a floor shift arm. If for some reason the Fairlane has a C6 on the back of that 289, you will have to beat the crap out of the Mustang tunnel to get it in and will need a custom made crossmember.
