For a '54 Ford I once had, I used P215 75R 15s (some say use 205s but they look too small) I hear that Mercs should have one size bigger so maybe 225 75R 15s?

215 are what most use.225 is tight to get on at the rear

hoss, I would go with 215's. I used the 215's on '51 pickup, '53 and '54 sedans for the last 18 years and they come off the back easier as darrell says.

the car that I'm looking at still has 710 x 15 bias plys and they are getting dry rotted.

Either P215/75R15 or P225/70R15
