AA54XXX VIN Number
I have found a late 31 deluxe roadster with a title that reads:
Year first registered 3/32 (march 1932) Body: RDSR (Roadster) VIN: AA54XXX I can't find any number stamped on engine, engine has probably been changed. Did Ford ever use the AA prefix for any of it's cars late in '31 Don |

Re: AA54XXX VIN Number
Looks like the engine has been changed. The one you have came from a 28 AA Big Truck.
My opinion, Chris W. |

Re: AA54XXX VIN Number
Is the motor an A or B motor? The B motors didn't have a number on the block. It was located on a boss on the flywheel housing just above the starter motor but who's to say you have the original flywheel housing or even a Model B one.

A five digit number with a AA prefix would be a number from a 28 AA big truck. That engine may have been in your car at some time and it was registered with that number. The number for your car should be a seven digit number with a "A" prefix. This would be my opinion. Chris W. |

Re: AA54XXX VIN Number
Chris has it right- truck engine and they used the # to title your roadster.
No biggy- just no fine points judging. |

was used for the AA's since they used the same clutch springs. Before and after these days the AA used heavier clutch springs. The engine number listed falls in this time period. |

Re: AA54XXX VIN Number
In some states, a title that matches no number on engine or frame can be problematic to get registered. I would want to know what the number on the frame is if it is is still visible or can be brought back through forensic methods.
As long as the car is already registered, it may not be a problem but it can be if it has to be verified during an ownership change. In Texas, a pencil rubbing of the frame number is sufficient but every state is different. |
