New block video.
I just posted a short video clip on Youtube of various stages of prototype machining the first sample block casting. It has everything bolted to it that I could in the position it is sitting. Time for it to come out of the machine and make way for paying work.

Re: New block video.
Tried to view it, but got message "not available to view on this platform" (iPad). Sure would like to see it. I have no knowledge of Youtube & don't know why it won't appear on iPads, but I've seen that message a few times.
As someone who can't drill a hole and have it come out round, I sure appreciate the real artists who can create a machine from raw materials!

Re: New block video.
It's looking good Tod!! I can't wait to see how it runs out. We Model A people are so lucky to have someone that has the knowledge and the ability to manufacture an engine that could take the Model A into the next century. Thanks Tod.

Re: New block video.
Tod, Those like yourself who choose to take on a project many people only dream about is terrific. I love this country because the talented people who reside here seem to have endless talent for any project. With the machinery and knowledge available today we can teach many of our own countrymen that what we can do is endless. Great job. I have no worries I will ever run out of available model A powerplants.

Re: New block video.
Thanks Tod,
My grandfather worked in foundry here in Montpelier, VT that cast iron for portable saw rigs, Lane Manufacturing. I'm sure he would understand the complexities of casting and machining these blocks. Congratulations on carrying on the tradition here in the USA! |

Re: New block video.
I ended up going thru a third party ap (MxTube) which did the trick. Dunno why it refused to play on YouTube.
Very pretty!! Nice iron.

Re: New block video.
I looked at the video and it boggles my mind how people figure this stuff out. like the other poster stated, I am lucky to drill a round hole let alone build a motor from scratch. My hats off to Todd. Looking forward to the next update.
