Mutant B Carb
I purchased (what I thought was) a Model B carburettor, for the purposes of acquiring a core to be re-built. I didn't look close enough, for though it has nearly the form of a Model B carb., it has some clear differences, as shown in the attached pictures. As shown in the first picture, I see
A) Something akin to an oversize secondary well (???) B) An additional flow valve in the main bowl C) An outlet through a different air passage, which connects to an opening on the air-side of the choke plate D) A 'sleeve' for the main jet Also, it does not have the traditional 'GAV' needle valve as found on A and B Carbs. Question: Does anyone know what the carburettor is, and whether anyone sells replacement parts for it? Thanks to all, Andrew |

Re: Mutant B Carb
Most likely it is a Zenith Carburetor from a tractor. Tractors usually don’t have the GAV.

Re: Mutant B Carb
Allis Chalmers used these carburetors on their early model WC tractors. They had a slightly smaller venturi and did not have the GAV or high speed enrichment circuits that the Ford B used.

Re: Mutant B Carb
Looks like it is air balanced for an air cleaner. I have a Model A type Zenith that is like your B carb. It is not for an A or B though.

Re: Mutant B Carb
OT; Even the Zenith Model A clone carb used on the Gleaner combine and other equipment had an air balance tube for use with air cleaner, but no GVA.
