What year is that VW?
In a related story, we sent our Daughter to Senior prom in our '57 Chevy, and ya, with her lead foot and her Dad's sense of "fun"...she was the bell of the ball. Doing burnouts in the parking lot just to get things started...and honey...if you're reading this...yeah...you're friends told me all about it.

biggest problems with VW's is rust - rest is about as simple as a model A if not a bit easier in some aspects. they didnt stop making the old VW bug in brazil till 2003 so there are oodles of parts out there.

It is a '74 Super Beetle. The body is pretty good with very little rust. The right side floor pans are rusted through, with a mediocre home patch...but will do for now. Everything else is solid.
I have yet to pull the engine, but I have a bad trans-axle mount, so it is coming out soon. You have to get inside the bell housing to replace those. For those who are interested, here is a world record engine swap team: Click Here - VW Beetle Engine change Guiness world record Ken

About post #13:
Green one has a mid to late 40s rear split window body! My brother had a 47 split window. I had a couple of Type IIIs with Electronic Fuel Injection (69 and 73). Almost bought a Porsche 911S but insurance was too high for an E5 in the Army. Last edited by Benson; 08-06-2016 at 10:04 AM. |

Actually, that's not a real split window VW body they used. The windows are not even the right shape. However there are several people who sell new split window sections that can be grafted into later VWs to mimic a pre-1953 body. I'm somewhat surprised that the fellow who built that VW Model A didn't use such a pre-made section rather than creating it from scratch. |

It is great to see a young person interested in our antique cars. You can tell very often when they are going to become car guys, or gals. This is the future of our hobby. In our club we have a lady in her 60's that has the Model A She learn how to drive when she was 16 and still has the A. She has restored it 3 times since she's own it. We consider her one of the guys!
