Re: Fast n Loud
Most of their cars are a mess. The 32 turned out to be a nice car even though it had sbc in it. I have heard the guy with the beard is a good builder. But when all you have to work with is junk Cadillacs and want to put air ride on everything. Stuff will look like crap.

Re: Fast n Loud
Realize he is probably getting $10k - $20k per episode from the network.... so the "real" money is getting paid to be filmed, regardless of what rusted out hulk they dragged in....

Re: Fast n Loud
Just checked out celebritynetworth.com or something like that and Richard is worth $8 million bucks. He had alot of other jobs before Gas Monkey and sold his printing company to start the garage. I read on another site he gets 25k per episode, not sure about the other guys. Apparently if you look into the company they do other things like total fine point restorations and basic repairs but the quick flip, hot rod stuff is more appealing to the general viewer.

Re: Fast n Loud
jhaas63, I'm with you I look forward to it as well, another show I really like is Graveyard cars, relatives, and friends all work in the shop, however it's the mopar line of cars, but they end up putting out some real top notch work, very detailed. There's Mark, Darren, and Josh, but I haven't seen there new assistant the research gal Holly.... If you haven't seen it check it out, I know it's not Ford. Their getting a lot of new equipt. in house, and very detailed in what type of primers they use and appropriate grit of sandpaper and a lot of the small stuff that I find good to know. Mark will even tell you when he use to do one way and changed up and give the reason.

Re: Fast n Loud
These restoration type shows can't be real at all. They dramatize the cheap aquisition. Then they wholesale the parts. Then,... what about the labor? Last time I looked it is almost $90 per hr. Do these owners pay their crew at all? Restorations take many many hours...I find it impossible to have the work done these guys do and not have to budget the labor costs. Often times they have three guys working on the car $270 per hr labor cost????
So even 10 hrs of labor is $2700.00 A full work week....$10,800.00 This show is merely entertainment for those who likely know no better. |

Re: Fast n Loud
With shop rate of $90 an hour your not paying your worker $90. He's maybe making $20.

Re: Fast n Loud
I like the show.
I've owned and run a restoration shop for a number of years, so I can empathize with dealing with the employees and also being the owner and being responsible for the bottom line, paying for broken parts and stuff. I've also been involved with taping a show for the History Channel and I appeared on one of those pawn shop type reality shows, so I know you can't believe everything they show you on tv. Overall I enjoy watching it, although you definitely have to take it with a grain of salt. |

Re: Fast n Loud
I thought HOLY SH**! that almost happened to me in a just finished 67 GTO convertible. Expect the difference was i was doing 65mph not turning at a redlight. Makes you reconsider road testing cars.
