Speedway Water Pumps
Does anyone have the 48-52 truck water pumps on an early block??
There's a hole on top of the pump that lines up with a water hole on the 8 BA block. The 59 blocks don't have this. Question is what do I do with this hole on my 59 block?? They told me they would fit a 1946 block but said nothing of these holes. Am I missing something? Thanks, Joe |

Re: Speedway Water Pumps
You can just put a plug in the hole without any problems going forward. I've seen it done before on a 59A with an 8BA cam and timing cover.

For over 20 years in my 49 F1 I ran an 81A motor with the water pumps you mention. Plugged them up and never had any issues.

Re: Speedway Water Pumps
If your talking about heater hose hole. I just got the same water pumps from Carpenter, for my 52 F1. They came with a screw in plug. The plug would be necessary if you don't have a heater. I'm sure you could get same from local hardware store.
I do have a question. Are you saying a later model water pump (ie: 52 f1 to 39 car) can be used on a earlier block? Many folks could avoid cutting hole in hose for heater hose?
