Default 53 Merc engine gaskets?

I'm having the Merc worked on soon and I'll need the two head headgaskets and a manifold gasket. It's a 125 hp, 255 ci flathead V8. with the teapot carb. I want to make sure I order the right ones. I know eBay sells them and I've had good luck buying parts there, but I need the correct part numbers or a link.....thanks,

Don

Don't buy new gaskets until you remove the old ones and check the cylinder bore
to see if it's stock or has been over bored. There are lots of gaskets for "bored blocks" so make sure you get the correct size gaskets. Also, the size and shape of the water holes in the block were redesigned in the later engines to make more water flow to the rear of the head for better cooling. See what you have first. Here's some photos.

Sounds like a good idea. I'll let the guy doing to work order what he needs.

If you have the time, and he will let you (some mechanics won't let you watch while they work), you might want to watch, while he does the work on the engine. It will give you tremendous insight into the engine.

Just a thought.
