Distributor Crap
Yeah, that is not a typo. Do you think this could have caused the erratic running and bucking? It's amazing that it even ran at all.
Bought a complete distributor from a supposedly reputable supplier, because Bubba was down at the time. Wasn't cheap either. Who sells the best distributor cap and rotor |

Re: Distributor Crap
Crazy! Got mine from Third Gen Automotive, never any issues with it.

Re: Distributor Crap
I thought that it was a well known fact that there is quality issue with some current reproduction crab caps and rotors. It pays to rotate these distributors by hand to make sure there is some clearance between the cap terminals and the rotor tip. Another example of out of spec reproduction parts. Better to find original Ford parts or older replacemment parts which were all good. Regards, Kevin.

Re: Distributor Crap
That rotor looks different than the one I have in my "rabbit ear".

Re: Distributor Crap
Just curious. Did you reach out to the vendor? Whether or not give our shop a call 844-327-5988 ask for Michael and I’ll hook you up.

Re: Distributor Crap
Not sure exactly what you're asking, but Ryan took over the 'Barn we have here in May 2010. Ms. Shelly owned it before that, going back at least before 2001 or earlier. Is that what you were asking? DD

Re: Distributor Crap
Both 3rd Gen and Mac van pelt are both great to deal with. I try to get parts from multiple vendors to support them all a little. All my electrical I've purchased from 3rd Gen and rebuilt my rear end using parts from Mac van pelt. No complaints about either, quality of goods or service.

Re: Distributor Crap
I need to close out this thread with an apology. My statement of preference for a supporter of the hobby was regarding NAPA versus VanPelt or Third Gen, who are mainstays. The problem with the cap was installation, not the cap itself. Apparently I did not get the cap on square, because the rotor hit one of the contacts in the cap, with resulting damage and very erratic running.
