Default Side curtain Snap tool alternatives...what are others using?

Hi all,

I am about to start working on sewing a new top and curtains for my '30 roadster.
I finally sourced most, if not all, of the fasteners that I need. I should have have them later this week.

The tools to install the fasteners, that is totally different story.
As I understand, I need the Side curtain tool to install the male side curtain snaps and the double cinch to canvas fasteners. The problem is that every vendor seems to be out of stock.

I went to and contacted several upholstery supply places, and they are not even familiar with the fasteners, and even less what type of tool I could use.

What are others using, is there an alternative tool that could work?
Do the snaps have a different name that would help me expand my online search?

With their high price and difficulty to find, I am afraid to start testing options and damaging what fasteners I have.

Anyone willing to sell me theirs or have a lead to a source for one?

I appreciate any help. Thanks!

Hello, the fasteners on the door and quarter panel have four bend over tabs that attached to a recessed washer on backside, probably replacing the riveted type on reproduction side curtains on my 1931 roadster.
