Repair of Fender Side Trim
Have a late '47 sedan long-door coupe. Front and back passenger side fender trims which are rather thin stainless steel, got squashed a bit by a garage door jamb. They are the 1948 style plain oval round profile.
I seem to remember someone saying in a post that their shape MAY be restored by removing them, laying the piece upside down in a bed of sand, and using a convex shaped tool (maybe i.e. a mason cement joint tool) and pressing the strip back to its oval shape. Has anyone done that ? How was the result ? I tried want ad but no responses. C&G's current prices for these parts run $110 and $160 each. Probably worth a try. |
