Hole in rear main cap
Does anyone know if this hole in the rear main cap is a defect or purposely drilled oil hole?

Re: Hole in rear main cap
If it doesn't go through to the oil passage it is probably a defect, if it is drilled through it is an attempt at stopping a rear main leak by draining it's oil supply
Even if it is a "defect" it won't matter much if the rest of the babbitt is good |

Re: Hole in rear main cap
babbitt doesn't look solid all the way down to the cap...looks hollow
why is the pan down and the caps off?
