Vertical integration was Fords goal but he never achieved it.. he came close given the multiple processes and the 5000 plus pieces of his unit of manufacture.

War work was done at 'cost plus a dollar' to avoid the tinge of profiteering. With Harry Bennett at Willow Run 'cost' did not include ethics or integrity. Kickbacks and chicanery was the order of the day. Its the reason the Deuce gained control at such a young age, the government saw what was happening at Willow Run and released him from service to take over.

My sentiments, as well. He was a more well rounded Henry without the rough edges and prejudices.
