Model T Steering Wheel Shaft Diameter?

Sorry for my ignorance.......
are there different shaft diameters for various years?

No the diameter is the same for all years. The end with the planetary gears did change when Ford went from 4:1 to 5:1. The pins that hold the gears changed but the shaft stayed the same.

The wheel end of the shaft was tapered with keyway or splined?

Neither...straight shaft with keyway.

To expand on that. The shaft it's self did not have the steering wheel mounted to it. The end of the main steering shaft held the three planet gears on the pins. A stub shaft that had the sun gear on one end that went through the steering gear box had the steering wheel mounted on it. The gear case had teeth cut into it. The sun gear drove the planet gears that revolved on the teeth cut in the case turning the main shaft. These parts are in the case right under the steering wheel.
