Default 1931 Sport Coupe Top #147 in Crash thread

The early 31 sport coupe 1934 crash post #147 appears to have a tan top material not the gray two tone vinyl? New roof in 3 years or special order?

I see that the picture was taken with very bright flash lighting to get a good image in a dark workshop. Notice how the running board step plate is washed out of any detail and that there is some detail outside the open door. Light gray becomes washed out to look white. It's about the limited range of contrast that the film can capture. The old adage for the best lighting for pictures is before 11 AM and after 3PM when the light is not so contrasty.

There is no grey materials available for a new top replacement. Didn't the 31 use a tan style top?? I have a 1930 Sport Coupe that was wrecked in 1957-hit a cow, and we nearly have to totally rebuilt.

Tom is right. Additionally, if there is no pin stripe (possibly there, but not noticeable in photo) the car was probably repainted as well. The photo could have been taken during the late '30's when both scenarios are likely.
