oil leaking
friend bought 30 model a at auction very low on oil,adding oil it runs out hole in bottom of flywheel cover

Bad rear main is the most common cause.

Either rear main issue or gasket around camshaft

Good afternoon...You will need to drop the pan and take a look...could just be a loose rear main...might be able to remove a shim or two and tighten back up. Clearance should be about 0.015 thousands. Use Plasti-gage...or if nothing else, remove the plugs and crank it before you tighten things up and then after to feel that things are snugger than they were but the engine still turns without much pressure...some good 'A'ers do it almost like tuning a piano! Had same problem large puddle of oil , removed two shims from rear main brg, better.
You could remove shims until you can no longer turn engine over then add one back. Do one at a time , about .006" each. Bob |
