If you were on the East coast, Starfish Radiator in Orleans MA does a lot of vintage radiator restorations from as far away as VA. Good luck.

I must be getting old. I remember when there were half a dozen radiator shops in every city.

Alan - understood, however, I remember when Panky's in Hayward was a go to shop.
About 8 years ago, they replaced the core from my 49 with a forklift truck core. Despite telling them it was for a 49 Ford flathead. Then they argued with me when I told them it was incorrect.

Pankeys was, yes, before Jack sold it... about 30 years ago? Jack was a good man, and I drooled over his 53 Beauty!

I have taken many, many radiators and gas tanks to Pankeys in Hayward in the last twenty years.
Always very happy with their service, never had a complaint. There was a shop I took stuff to in another town that always charged an extra $15 for working on stuff from old cars. They called it classic car work. Never go there anymore. |

All I can say is that Jack Pankey (RIP) was saddened in the knowledge that his name was still associated with the shop after he sold it. I'm pleased to hear of your good experience, as my first transaction under the new management was my last.

Just FYI, Went to Panky’s yesterday...they no longer do automotive radiators, and San Leandro Radiator has closed. |
