Need a new fan
Does anybody have any experience Mac's 4 Blade fan P/N Part #: 28-24689-1
Looks like it would be easy to remove when changing water pump. Pros and Cons would be appreciated Richard |

Re: Need a new fan
You don't even need a fan over 35mph anyway.
I put the plastic fan in my rig right after the 4-blade fan that was in there lost the rivets holding it together and took out my nice radiator. I just figured that the plastic fan would be "kinder" to my new Berg's Radiator.

Re: Need a new fan
Too nice a Model A to fit with a cheap looking plastic fan ....... two (2) blade aluminum looks far more original & appropriate.

Re: Need a new fan
+4 for the aluminum 2 blade fan. As mentioned, it looks original and is one cast piece.

Buy the 2 blade aluminum it out performs the others looks proper and is quieter. .its easy to change the pump if needed.. If you do go with plastic keep the hood shut

Re: Need a new fan
OK lets not let a little thing like plastic vs aluminum cause a family feud...

Re: Need a new fan
It sounds like the two-blade ALUMINUM fan gets the most votes. Are there more than one manufacturer of the 2-blade Aluminum fan ? Does anyone know who (Parts Dealer) makes them ? If there are more than one manufacturer / source, which is the better ?
At the moment I am still quite happy with my original 87 year old original steel Ford-made fan. BUT after all these many years of service and age, this thread has made me nervous. Knowing that often times there are a number of reproduction items that have a 'run' made and then the source dries up, I thought I would purchase the best aluminum fan I can get, NOW, and store it up for later use - if needed. |
