Shape of popout ignition switch
I'm confused about the varieties of popout switches. The Andrews handbook shows an early style and a later style, both of which are basically cylindrical, and both of which show up on a google image search.
Over on ebay, however, there are currently about half a dozen items listed as popout switches that are basically conical. Any ideas of where the conical switches come from and what they fit? |

Re: Shape of popout ignition switch
The ones you call "conical" might be the switch that is offered as an inexpensive replacement on-off switch if the pop-out switch is missing or not existent. Without pictures of what you are seeing in eBay, it is hard to answer your question.

Does this help?
Kind of reminds me of the Mercury space capsule. |

If you’re looking for an original, that isn’t one.

Re: Shape of popout ignition switch
that is NOT a pop out, it is just a on off replacement switch.

If it doesn't look, function, and break down for repair exactly like one of the original two model A designs, it is not an original. Many of them had a tag with manufacturing information but the tags have been reproduced and not all of them had tags There were several different end fittings and clamps depending on year of manufacture. All this stuff is in the judging standards. GM and other manufacturers use Briggs & Stratton ELECTROLOCK designs but they are different than the Ford designs. Not all of them are pop out types. |
