6 volt pos. To 6 volt neg., ground
Just finished reading an article by Randy Rundel on converting 6V pos.,
to 6V neg. Has anyone or know of anyone who has done this? What would be the advantage of doing this? I know maybe a couple. According to Randy it is a easy and simple thing to do. The problem I see with it would be if you are running a 6V positive ground alternator it would expensive to change over to a negative ground one, He didn't mention being able to convert the alternator.

Re: 6 volt pos. To 6 volt neg., ground
The only way I'd change over to negative ground would be if I was going to a 12 volt system. Otherwise, leave it alone.

Re: 6 volt pos. To 6 volt neg., ground
You can get a inverter to run 12 volt accessories, e.g. radio,
phone charger, GPS, and a few other things. If you went to 12 volts you would have to change your lights and maybe starter, and generator or alternator. Personally, I like mine as it is. Just thought it was interesting that someone could come up with such devises.

Here is a converter to run 12V neg accessory in a 6V pos vehicle.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/26513827546...epid=216465215 Didn't know they were made in this flavor. Apparently there are a lot of cars that can use them. I don't know of any advantage to changing the grounding. Good reason to change a generator to 12V though - doubles its power. |
