Default 1955-57 horn ring removal to smaller steering wheel

Hey guys I purchased a new repro steering wheel for my 56 T bird. After some initial problems I was able to remove the horn ring from the original steering wheel but when I tried to remove the horn ring from the repro unit I cannot seem to get it off. Has some one out there changed their car to the smaller wheel and figured how to get the ring off. I do not want to break it in the process of doing so thanks Tom

IIRC, to remove a horn ring, you push it towards the wheel, then turn it one way or the other. Should work the same way with a replacement wheel?

The original two spoke horn ring in a '55 Bird is held on from the back side of the steering wheel with 2 small screws.

'56 and '57 Birds you push the horn ring in firmly and twist it about 1/8th turn counter clockwise, and it falls off in your hands.

I'd 'assume' the smaller reproduction steering wheels are the same, but actually have no clue.
