Tire wear - Brand
I've presently have Goodyear all weather classic tires on my sedan. These have the period looking diamond tread bias ply. Although I run 16" wheels with 6.50 x 16 tires I have rotated tires and at about 9000 miles I need to replace two of them due to very little tread left. The wear is even across the width. Has anyone found this tire to have this lower life? I'm looking at other brands and have heard Firestone has been good. Anyone want to comment on your tire experience.? Recommendations ?

Many on here complain about only getting about 10,000 miles out of a pair of bias ply tires, so you seem to be the norm at 9k.
I personally cant say, as I dont drive much. |

Yes , 10,000 miles seems to be pretty common on the bias ply tires, the guys running radials are getting a little more out of them.
I'm in the same class as ronn,,, I don't put that many miles on the car so they will 'time out' before I wear them out. Meaning they will be needing changed due to getting old Seven years is kinda the 'shelf life' of tires so my alignment guy has always stressed to me. |

Re: Tire wear - Brand
as I mentioned on the other thread. I would have bought them, but price went up and I ended up buying tires from Jegs, free shipping at 104. each total. I think I have excelsior, I think you bought a better tire.
If Im not mistaken, the Europeans are running close to 600. a set. they are worth it. I drive very little......... |

On my 31 Slant Town Sedan, a heavy car. I first used Universals, lasted 6,700 miles. Then switch to Goodyears, got 14,500 from them. Just installed European Classic, but have a torn rotor cuff, and will be in a brace for 12 weeks after surgery, so won't be doing much driving for the summer driving season.

Re: Tire wear - Brand
On my pickup I put the cheaper Lucas tires on. My dad has a Sedan and has used Goodyear, Firestone and Lucus and he got roughly the same amount of miles out of each set of them. In my opinion there’s no use in paying twice the amount for a tire that will last and perform the same as a higher priced one.

10,000 miles has been my experience as well... Wore out a set of 19" INSA tires at 10,000mi. Half-way through a set of Firestones at ~6,000mi.
