Default Popout ignition for 1930 Pickup

Today's project was a popout ignition to install in a 1930 Pickup as a replacement for current ignition. The problems:

Ignition was pushed in, locked, and no key. Lock was easy to pick; and I was able to get the number A1308 for a key. Any source for a A1308 key?

Does anyone know what key blank will fit lock? If anyone has had a key made, there is a number on the blank used ---like KW1 or SC! (these are common house key blanks) With a blank, I can try to produce a key; lock can be impressioned if necessary--not my favorite way to make a key

Thirteen pages returned in a search for data yielded very little factual information. Key blank numbers, direction of code use to cut key, disassembly diagrams or pictures, or rebuild hints. Frequent suggestion was "take it to local locksmith" That is me; a safetech who has expanded into locks as no locksmith in county

I made a note of phone number and email of gentleman many referenced for excellent lock repair. I would like to complete the repairs myself if possible

Any help will be greatly appreciated
Paul

A company called A&L has the key blanks and could cut you a key.

A & L Specialties will be able to cut a proper key and stamp it with your key number.

I had them cut new keys for the ignition and door for my 1930 Town Sedan byt just supplying them with the key numbers. They work great. I needed them for judging purposes.

Thanks for all the information.

I had saved Dick Crabtree's contact data from the earlier search. The A & L source is good to know also

1930 Coupe: Excellent info. I did not know a code sheet to go to; or depth and spacing keys. With your data and sketch, I can cut a key. I will try the B1 blank; the popout is the 30-31 style. With careful layout, I think I can do most of the cutting on the Curtis machine. I'm familiar with hand filing keys from doing impressionin.
I will find some blanks tomorrow and get started

The key works perfectly---and first try

Stopped at Ace this morning and got a couple of B1 blanks. I decided to do layout (sharpie for layout dye) and hand file; then carefully filed each cut to within .001 to .0015 of finished depth. Key turned on first try; did a little touch up to ease key removal. Finished

Thanks for the information. Now have a working key within only hours of original request; and satisfaction of doing it myself rather than ordering. And it is a reminder of the helpfulness of the great people who collect and restore these and other old cars
