Vintage Seat belt retractor reels
Hi , does anyone use a Vintage type seat belt retractor reel to keep their lap belts neatened up on the bench seat? How well do they work does anyone use them or have comments to share?

Used them years ago when that was the only option. Only on the door side and they worked well.

I remember using them on my 67 mustang (in 67), but can't remember if I liked them or not!

Ok good to hear these comments, please keep them coming. I’m trying to solve the problem of the lap belt falling down and smacking the running boards. Other than being mindful getting into the f1 routine when driving.
Hey ‘flathead 53’that’s funny I’m in central jersey too! Monmouth County. John |

I picked this type up from Juliano’s to use on my 36 ford. So far they have worked well. They also have the original type as shown in the original post as well. https://www.julianos.com/SearchResul...actors&Submit= Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Re: Vintage Seat belt retractor reels
You might like to have a look at the Wesco 4 point seat belts. They are an interesting arrangement with a tether strap at the back to retain the upper portion. I suggest you look at the installation instructions so you understand the simplicity of the arrangement.
Yes, they will be a nuisance each time you buckle in but they do offer more secure protection particularly for the upper body. I have them in mind for a 41 Mercury coupe I just purchased, I will however install them with eye bolts and snap hooks so they can be removed if necessary. www.wescoperformance.com/am4point.html Bryan |

Re: Vintage Seat belt retractor reels
Those are cool looking seat belt arrangement! I already made a choice And have installEd the lap belts in the truck and feel they’re adequate for the 45 mph driving I do in the truck. Three points might have been nice but the install and look wasn’t something I was sold on. Safety wise superior though.

Re: Vintage Seat belt retractor reels
With reference to #1, we used them in a fleet of light helicopters on the gulf coast hauling oil field workers and they held up very well. Would have to replace one once in a while due mostly to heavy hands and rough use. It kept the belt and buckle inside the cabin instead of beating up the side of the aircraft.
