Default keeping tires

i just bought 4 brand new tires and i wont be using them for quite some time.
besides keeping them tucked in a corner somewhere, what is the best way to keep them from dryrotting, cracking or whatever.
would spraying them with a tire conditioner every so often help ?

thanks

I'd lay them flat and away from sun light.

If you also have new inner tubes, I'd stick them inside the tires and inflate them just enough to take shape. If you leave them flat or folded they will likely crack.

Curious, why did you buy them if you won't use them for a long time ? Wayne

Store them off the ground away from the sun. Keep them from getting wet.

If white walls, do not let the white side touch the Blackwall ... That is when stacking tires on top of each other or leaning against each other.

Says so right on the tire wrapping of some new tires.

As others have recommended; lay flat, off the ground, away from sun light and keep them far, far away from electric motors or electirc welding (anything that generates ozone). Wrap or cover them with plastic and face them whitewall to whitewall.

I would be reluctant to put any type of tire dressing on them as some chemicals will actually leach away the rubber preservative in the tire.

Thought I just had that may be obvious to everyone else: Since they still make white wall band tires and white lettering tires for modern cars and every tire shop carries a variety, is that the reason for the "blue" that is always on new white stuff? So the tires laying on top of each other doesnt tarnish the white?

curious as to what- "quite some time is"?

If a couple of years, I'ld sell them and buy a set when I was ready.

Why are you buying tires way ahead of time?

And rightly so. There is no great deal if the tires are not safe! Wayne

I won a set of new tires about 4 years ago. Did not need to replace my current tires at the time. I Bought some large vacuum bags and used vacuum cleaner to vacuum the air out. They sealed up tight and I kept them on an overhead shelf out of the light. 4 years later, the seals were still intact and the tires were as freah as new.
