Default removing drive shaft

tell me how to remove the drive shaft from the banjo rear ?
it appears that it has a threaded hub securing the driveshaft gear to the banjo
housing ?

Tom Endy has very good article on rear ends. I think now look for Santa Anna's model a club web site.

The "threaded hub" you are looking at is (I'm Guessing) is the Pinion Gear Bearing Adjustment nuts and threads. They hold the pre-load adjustment on the Pinion Bearings. The Pinion Gear is held on the drive Shaft by a nut on the end of the Drive Shaft. The Pinion Gear, Pinion Bearing and Drive Shaft, as a assembly, are pulled out of the Banjo Housing by a puller. The puller is available from some of the parts vendors.
Yes, Tom Endy's write-up is an excellent source of information to do this job.

Do not take the two large nuts loose at the font of the banjo as it will destroy the preload setting on the pinion bearings.

Go to the web site of the Santa Anita A's of Arcadia, California at www.santaanitaas.org. On the home page put your cursor on "Technical Reference", my name will appear below, click on it. A menu of technical articles will come . Several such as differential repair, Mitchel overdrive installation, and drive shaft removal should help you. You are gong to need a drive shaft puller. You can get one from the Mitchell overdrive company.
