Explain "perch the frame."

Re: model a front bumper
perch
to lower the frame below the spring to attach a "perched" bracket, the short end to the top of the spring, the other longer end attached to the front of the crossbar on the front of the frame. picture an upside down L bracket ( brace ) |

Re: model a front bumper
What is your final goal as the fenders also attach to the curved horns?

You would probably get a much better answer to your question on HAMB: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/

Re: model a front bumper
I agree, I have no idea what 1917modelT is referring to. It kind of sounds like he is trying to modify the frame (or some attachments to the frame) to make a hotrod.

I think he is building what they call a suicide front end.

Re: model a front bumper
I've NEVER known of anyone getting killed from one. Most are built with GREAT strength & INTEGRITY. They've been used for MANY YEARS. The building of them has become quite an ART FORM.

Re: model a front bumper
actually iam building a rat rod with both a front suicide and a rear suicide setup
my thought is to hang the rear frame, thru a perch, attached to the top of the rear spring. and supported thru side rails of course. i would appreciate any thoughts on this setup |

Re: model a front bumper
Even the HAMB would give him a hard time with a rat rod.
