"G" series oil drain plug gasket source?
Does anyone know where I can find an oil drain plug gasket for a 1947 "G" series 226? Or if they are the same as maybe a 8N or something? I can make one, but would like to have one ready to go when I change my oil. I have looked online, I'm coming up with nothing.
Thanks!

Chris i think when i had my 6 cyl g series 47 coupe that i went to NAPA and got a copper gasket from them buy measuring the drain plug but they may have a listing for the proper gasket. I got most of my engine parts there. Marv

Harbor freight has small box of assorted copper washers that must have one in it that fits.Or find a fiber one in the plumbing dept of an old fashion hardware store. Not rocket science if you think about it. ken ct.

This plug is about 3" around...so I do not think a hardware store copper washer will work. I may be able to rig something, but if the right gasket is available I would rather just buy a couple. It's still not rocket science, but I was also not born yesterday

Tractor Supply has a lot of parts for Ford tractors from 30's to late 40's and thay sound like the same gasket. You removed that plug to drain the oil and remove the filter on some models tractors. If NAPA does not have them TC may. marv

If it had a paper type gasket, you may have to make one from similar gasket material if no one stocks them. Joblot might have some. Many of us V8 folks have little or no experience with the 6 bangers. |

Try a rubber "O" ring. Hardware stores usually carry a wide size assortment. I have used one on my 226 "H" for many years.

Some of those hardware store o rings do not hold up for petroleom products. Marv

Joblot Automotive is where I got that gasket for my "G" series engine. Fiber/paper gasket P/N 52-6734, Copper gasket P/N 52-6734-C.

Re: "G" series oil drain plug gasket source?
I found em...I changed the oil again and this time took the plug to the ol solvent tank as I figured I was gonna have to go to a hardware store to find something. After cleaning I saw a casting number on the inside of the plug. It started with "9N", so went to the local tractor supply company and got a couple!

What you are describing is the cleanout plate, which should have the drain plug in the middle of it.

No, it's the drain plug. It's 2 1/2" diameter

it was made that size so you could remove the oil pump screen, it would get plugged from the wonderful non detergent oil the purists love to put in there engines, hell even Ford new way back then what happens when you run non detergent oil so he made allowances for it

Re: "G" series oil drain plug gasket source?
I made a drain plug gasket using standard sheet type gasket material, from NAPA, traced the old gasket onto the sheet and cut out with a sharp knife.
