Default "HAMB" site vs my computer

It just came to my attention (by a member here) that some people have tried to make contact with me on the "HAMB" site and haven't gotten a response.

Ever since the site "changed" my computer doesn't like me going there, so I haven't made any "connections" over there, I apologize for missing anyone but "it is what it is" so to speak.

I can be reached here fairly easily, for some reason my computer is still "comfortable" over here. I hope this one lasts??

Thanks, Gary in N.Y.

P.S. Would like to wish all here and their families a "Happy Holiday" season and a "Happy New Year". Stay healthy!

Delete your old HAMB cookies in your browser, I bet that fixes it.

I don't know anyone who actually prefers the new HAMB format, it's an epic fail IMO.

Hi,

HAPPY HANUKKAH & MERRY CHRISTMAS to ALL; Choose your preference.

As a related HAMB question:

Is there any way to print the Threads off HAMB that I am intersted in paper copy?
Thanks,
Bruce/CT

I don't know, I kind-a like them both. They both have their positive and negative aspects. However, the more I use the new HAMB setup the more I like it.

I know I found you here Gary and as a customer found you very patient and excellent communication working through international sales etc. Though I thought I had seen you on the HAMB. The HAMB certainly has more threads and posts but as usual you need to sift through what is meaningful reading and trash.
Don't give up on the HAMB Gary, ask on there for help perhaps. Just had a peek at the HAMB and your last postings seem to be May.

I like the Hamb format. I like the FordBarn format.

I don't know which one I like better.

There's only one way to settle this: FIGHT!!!!

Don't know if your computer works this way; but I just right click on the screen, select print from the pop-up menu, and it will print the complete current page (usually 8-10 pieces of paper depending on pictures) of the thread you are viewing.

I definately do NOT like the new HAMB format, but have learned to deal with it. Had to download Google Chrome web browser to make some of the functions work. Rod

Love the Hamb, like it here too. Your computer system may be out dated, that happened to me.

Okay, I'll step up and be "that guy", the scold.

First the qualifiers. As humans, most have some level of resistance to change, and the HAMB board format/software was a biggy. And if you believe the forum has lost a significant number of participants since "the change" (hmmmm, sort of like when a woman passes 50) I'd agree with you. But then all you have to do is look at the classifieds here to see there is a significant portion of the members here who apparently can't (or more accurately won't) figure out one of the simplest photo upload formats in all of forumdom.

It took a bit of effort to figure out the HAMB, and while I feel quite comfortable now, and am able to do anything in the new format that I chose to do in the old, I probably am unaware of a bunch of features that might be useful because I just don't know they exist. That being said, there had to be a point in time that each one of us on here, those who are now comfortable with this and hate the new HAMB particularly, where you had to go through the struggles of learning this format as well. Man up.......invest a bit more effort in the new HAMB format and get back at it if you value(d) the conversation and the characters there. It's not really that tough. What a couple above have said may be true, your computer needs a little maintenance, possibly, in order to play nice. Well, given what kind of forum this is you likely understand the importance of maintenance for your car........your computer ain't that different from that perspective. Can't figure it out yourself? Get your 12 year old grandson or nephew over again.............Don't be afraid to ask for help.

My MSFT desktop is 6 years old and only has normal security updates but I switched to Google Chrome years ago and don't have any display issues.

As with any new software, the HAMB site initially had to work thru a number of bugs which probably turned some folks off.

My guess is HAMB traffic is down significantly with the new format and it has nothing to do with end user computer setup or maintenance.

If only I could get to the Tech Archives (if they survived the change). What am I doing wrong?

If their traffic is down you wouldn't know it from the flood of post!

I do not think posting traffic is down, but I have noticed a drop off in messaging and have had people call for parts saying they have not figured out the messaging part of the new HAMB. Rod

The HAMB messaging is one of the new features I really like. Also like the photo upload, it is really nice. My biggest issue with the HAMB is the content! There is so much non-Ford or silly stuff of no interest to me to dig through to get to the few (and they are very few) post/threads that do interest me. So, for that fact I much prefer the Barn. However the formatting on the HAMB is much better once you get used to using it.

Edit: And the posters tend to be more mature and friendly on the Barn!
