"Ignition" Key
I am getting a little anxious every time I use our '39 Ford coupe that I am going to break the key. What is a good source for a replacement? My present key is labeled: Curtis Industries Inc; Cleveland O.; H 4.

Re: "Ignition" Key
Go to your local locksmith, show him what you have.
Did the same for a replacement key for my '51 Merc., he had the correct blanks on the rack and in less than 20 minutes I had a couple of spares.

Re: "Ignition" Key
I can cut a key-to-code or from a good photograph of your key if you don't have luck locally.

Re: "Ignition" Key
Joe, If you are looking for an original ignition key, you want a Hurd # 9026 or Briggs & Stratton # 82699. If generic is OK then you want a Curtis H-5. See attached images for key shape and characteristics.

Re: "Ignition" Key
How about buying some blanks (I think Drake sells them) and having your local locksmith cut them? I found when I had mine cut for my '32 that it was necessary to put a paperclip under the blank and the key I was cutting from to move it far enough out for the cutting machine. Get an extra key and put it in the safe deposit box along with all of the other keys you have there (?) and your trust documents (?). I assume here you are organized like the rest of us (?).
