50 ford f1 steering stabilizer
Wondering if a steering stabilizer is worth it. Do they help on an old pick em up. The front end is really good, just looking for a little more tightness. trying to take some of the wonder out when you are going down the road. THANKS

Re: 50 ford f1 steering stabilizer
I put a VW super beetle steering stabalizer on the front of my A-V8. Works well.

Re: 50 ford f1 steering stabilizer
After rebuilding my 48 and driving it as a daily for 10 years I'd have to say the only reason to add a stabilizer is if something is badly worn. My late model Dodge truck is quirkier than the 48 F1.....
I do run LT radials tho |

Re: 50 ford f1 steering stabilizer
Had my stock 49 F1 for 40 years - bias ply tyres. Always driven beautifully if all steering components are well maintained. No need for add-ons.

Re: 50 ford f1 steering stabilizer
Mine wandered until I adjusted the lash in the steering box, now it drives great with bias plys on it.

Re: 50 ford f1 steering stabilizer
The spring bushings are the biggest culprit, followed closely by steering box slop. If you get those two things tight, you probably won't need a steering stabilizer.
