50 Ford flathead / alternator question
I have a question guys.. I just dropped in my flathead engine in my 50 Ford coupe, the wiring is still original and I need to know what wires connect where on my alternator. I show 3 wires coming from the wiring harness, and have 2 studs on the back of the alternator and a separate wire enclosed in a white plastic box from the alternator.

Re: 50 Ford flathead / alternator question
Did you add the alternator or was it already converted? If it's a one wire you just need a wire (#10) or heavier to the battery.

Re: 50 Ford flathead / alternator question
A person would have to identify the alternator to find out if it has an internal regulator like the modern types or whether it requires a two pole regulator like the early types. Ford Autolite and GM Delcotron are common types but there are a world of different types out there. Whatever you have can be made to work but some are much simpler than others.
