Default spark plug question

I bought a set of Champion W16Y for my '30 engine to replace the Auto-lite TH8 plugs that were in the car. I noticed the reach and the center electrode are both longer on the Champion plug than the Auto-lite. the difference is about 1/4".
Is it safe to install the Champion plugs?
