31 Roadster questions
All , Just bought a 31 roadster project that I know nothing about .This is my first Model A in almost 50 years. It is missing door hinges and handles ..are they the same a coupe ? Are the rear fenders the same a a coupe ? Missing the windshield stanchions .I have seen some for sale that are brass ...were the originals brass ?
Thanks in advance. |

Re: 31 Roadster questions
The door hinges are Roadster and I think also standard pheaton and roadster PU.
31 lower stations are all steel. Windshield posts are Stainless steel. Chris W |

Re: 31 Roadster questions
There were brass lower stanchions but ice mostly seen them in earlier 30
They would/should work on all 30-31 roadsters and phaetons however |

Re: 31 Roadster questions
Just be careful buying upper stanchions (stainless steel). There are 2 different lengths as the Deluxe cars had a lower top and shorter stanchions (and windshield) than the Standards. Lower stanchions were all the same (30-31). Don't forget the lead spacers between the lower stanchions and belt rail.

I do not like to use the brass stanchions as I have found the mounting screw holes can be lobbed out. The steel ones are usually more forgiving and can be more easily repaired. Again, this is just my opinion. Chris W. |

Re: 31 Roadster questions
If you look in the for sale section and search hinges I believe Eddie Fitts out of CT may have some open car hinges. He has been in hobby/business at least 40 years, a good guy.
